Subject	So Today The Fan Tried To Escape Through The Hood

Message	I was having a particularly crappy day anyway, but then I noticed a lot of fan noise on my Z. It was loud, but I didn't think it would be an immediate drive the car to the shop moment. I was wrong. I can only guess that the fan clutch seized. Parts were flying out from under the car and it went full throttle. Shut it off immediately and coasted into a parking lot to find.... The fan clutch split in half, fan flew through the upper shroud and dented the hood, knocked out the lower radiator hose, busted the lower radiator shroud, passenger side timing cover and the lower bay cover. Sigh. Stuck 400 miles from home and probably will be days to get parts and repair. Guessing $1500 at the Nissan dealer and another $1300 in hood/paint when I get home. Used to look like this:
